The much venerated image in the high altar is the destination of a large pilgrimage every year on the feast of the Nativity of Mary (8 September). The outstanding clay sculpture shows Our Lady sitting on a bench and playing with the Boy Jesus in softly flowing robes. It was created in the heyday of clay sculpture on the Middle Rhine around 1420 and belongs to the circle of sculptures in Bingen. Liebfrauenland - Gothic in Rheinhessen
