Integrated in one of the restored parts of the old city wall (in the Klosterstraße) stands the also restored pigeon tower. In front of the city wall stands the monument to the important Alzeyer vine breeder Georg Scheu (1879-1949). Georg Scheu was the first director of the Alzeyer Rebschule, which he developed into a large state vine breeding institute. Dr. Scheu developed the well-known grape varieties Scheurebe, Huxel, Faber and Siegerrebe as well as Kanzler, Würzer, Regner and Septimer.
