The history of our winery goes back over 7 generations to the year 1770. Already in the 18th century there was an inn on the Ludwigshof. According to tradition, Johannes Bückler, also known as Schinderhannes, stayed here.
Ludwig Leonhard (* 02.02.1830) managed the farm until my great-grandfather Wilhelm Ludwig Leonhard (* 21.05.1879) took it over. Since the male descendants had to leave their lives very early, my grandmother Margarethe (*1915), the youngest daughter of Wilhelm Ludwig took over the farm. She married Georg Johannes Richtarsky in 1946, who gave his name not only to her but also to the winery.
The Richtarsky winery is managed to this day by my father Gerd Richtarsky, the youngest son of the two. I, Mario Richtarsky, successfully completed my apprenticeship as a winemaker at the Lehr- und Forschungsanstalt in Geisenheim, which is known far beyond the borders of Germany. There I was able to gain a deep insight into the world of wine and participate in the latest research. Furthermore, I will continue to educate myself academically and professionally in order to skilfully bring this knowledge into the winery.
Our winery is a pure family business. All work is done by family members. My mother Gertrud is the "good soul" of the house and takes care of the business management, which should not be underestimated, just as well as she takes care of us and our all-time welcome guests. My sister Anika studied computer science and keeps the computers up and running together with her husband Jason. Due to their technical understanding and talent, they also have a knack for other technical problems. Melanie has made the design and artistic tasks her own with her studies in interior design.
Our goal is to stick to the traditional winemaking, not to lose sight of the old tried and true, and to combine it in a meaningful and progressive way with modern methods and ways of working. Traditional winemaking cannot be replaced and is very important to us. We are convinced that this can be felt by our customers in our wines.
