Since 2007 it has been official: the geographical centre of Rheinhessen is in Gabsheim. The Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for Surveying and Geographic Information has designated the village as the official centre of the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The point is also originally located in a field with the old name "An des Adams Apfelbaum" (At Adam's Apple Tree). It is a beautiful spot somewhat off the road with tables, benches and information boards. From here, you can enjoy an outstanding view over Gabsheim and the entire hill country.
