The Heylshof with its park-like garden was built for Baron Cornelius W. von Heyl. Today the Museum Kunsthaus Heylshof is one of the leading art museums in Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to the old German masters of the 19th century such as Rottmann, Schirmer, Schwind and Steinle, the collection consists mainly of 17th century Dutch artists. Paintings by Rubens and other masters complete the collection. The exhibition also includes artefacts of German stoneware as well as porcelain from the Frankenthal manufactory.
