Jörg Hegemann is one of the most well-known German Boogie Woogie pianists, who perfectly master this jazz piano style and keep the charm and power of this music alive. He takes his listeners back to Chicago in the 1930s and shows them the musical world of the Boogie Woogie pioneers Albert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis, and Pete Johnson. He has performed concerts in many countries worldwide, including the USA, and countless events across Europe, with appearances at some of the most significant jazz festivals such as the Dixieland Festival Dresden, Jazzfrühling Kempten, Jazz Band Ball Wiesbaden, or the Jazzralley Düsseldorf, and many others.

Concerts with the German Boogie masters Axel Zwingenberger and Vince Weber and the Austrian Martin Pyrker prove that Jörg Hegemann is an indispensable part of the German traditional jazz and boogie scene! The aforementioned Axel Zwingenberger was, like for many other Boogie enthusiasts, the catalyst that ignited the then 16-year-old Hegemann's passion for Boogie in 1983. However, his first attempts had to be made on his parents' home organ until he saved up for his first own piano at the age of 20. In the following years, Jörg Hegemann, along with three similarly Boogie-enthusiastic friends, founded the group "Chicago Four."

As a soloist, Hegemann developed greatly over time, released his first record "Boogie Woogie Express" (1995), and was increasingly booked solo and also with a rhythm group in trios for performances in jazz clubs and festivals. In 1999, the second CD "Steam Driven Boogie" was released. Since 2009, Jörg Hegemann has presented his own concert series titled "Jörg Hegemann presents Masters of Boogie Woogie." At the water castle "Haus Opherdicke" in Holzwickede, Hegemann regularly plays alongside German and international top artists. Additionally, he curates the Boogie Woogie Congress at the Philharmonie in Essen twice a year, where the most renowned artists in the scene regularly come together.

In October 2009, Jörg Hegemann was awarded as the first "Pianist of the Year" with the newly established German Boogie Woogie music award "Pinetop."

The event is a collaboration between the cultural initiative Klein-Winternheim e.V. and the Jazzclub Rheinhessen e.V.
