Cycle tour through the municipality

The cycle tour starts at 10 a.m. in Gau-Algesheim at the bicycle museum and follows the ‘Obstroute’ cycle path via Appenheim, Nieder-Hilbersheim to Ober-Hilbersheim. The first stop in Ober-Hilbersheim is at the Schrothaus/Heimatmuseum. A short break allows you to take a look at the local history museum and the first opportunity to join the cycle tour. At around 11 a.m. we continue on the ‘fruit route’ to Engelstadt. After Engelstadt, we leave the ‘Obstroute’ and take a well-developed farm track to Bubenheim, from where the cycle tour follows the cycle path to Schwabenheim an der Selz. During a short break at the market fountain, culture and wine ambassador Walter Klippel gives an entertaining account of the special features and sights of Schwabenheim. There is also an opportunity to join the cycle tour in Schwabenheim. At around 12.30 pm, the cycle tour starts again along the ‘fruit route’ towards Ingelheim and Gau-Algesheim. The cycle path leads us past Gau-Algesheim to Ockenheim to the 370-year-old horse chestnut tree. At 2.00 pm, the cycle tour takes you back along the cycle path to Gau-Algesheim. Afterwards, you are welcome to visit the bicycle museum.

The cycle tour will be led by Hermann Schön, head of popular sports at the Gau-Algesheim 1898 e.V. cycling club.

Participation in the tour is free of charge.

Please register in advance at the tourist information centre. (tourismus@vg-gau-algesheim.de, 06725/910185)
