Across the backdrop of the 1000 year old Martinsdom, the marketplace in front of the mighty Dom St. Martin transforms into a sea of lights during Adventzeit. Each year, the historic Mainz Weihnachtsmarkt shines brightly here, as well as at Höfchen and Liebfrauenplatz, with festively decorated stalls. Particularly beautiful are the colorful Renaissence facades of the historic market houses.
Numerous cathedralconcerts and matinee, the traditional fairy tale performance at the Mainz Stadtstheather, and the popular Christmas card printing at the Gutenberg-Museum print shop are among the special Christmas attractions in Mainz, along with many other smaller Christmas markets in and the around the city center.
