In the exhibition "Colors of Light" at the Essenheim Art Forum, Gerlinde Zantis (Aachen) and Maxim Wakultschik (Düsseldorf) explore the effects of colors. Both push into the fringes – with very different and exciting results. The Essenheim Art Association cordially invites all art enthusiasts to the opening of the exhibition on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 PM. Also, to visit the exhibition (Sat./Sun. until March 30). Admission is free.
Gerlinde Zantis' world glows in the dark. She depicts the landscape and houses of southern France in the nocturnal shimmer. Her large-format works in pencil, colored pencil, and pastel chalk are technically perfect – strikingly close to photography. We sense a sovereign calm, a unique poetry of residual light and residual colors.
Maxim Wakultschik extends many of his images into three-dimensional objects. For faces or floral motifs, for example, he achieves this with colored lacquered wooden sticks. He immerses them fully in color and inserts them closely packed into a perforated plate. The spaces between the wooden sticks shine out from the shadow in the interior of the object – acting as light amplifiers from the depth.
