Simplicissimus

The curtain of the travelling stage reveals a country nobleman who is not satisfied with reality. Inspired by many knightly novels, he chooses his neighbour Sancho Pansa as his squire and sets out to make the world a better place as the self-proclaimed knight Don Quixote. They see castles in inns, flocks of sheep become armies and mills become giants. They fight their way from one crazy adventure to the next, failing all the time and yet never losing heart, because Don Quixote wants to be a hero! But is it enough to pretend to be a hero in order to be one? On the occasion of 40 years of Chawwerusch Theatre, Chawwerusch addresses these questions and takes a closer look at "Don Quixote", this pioneer of utopia.
