1800 years ago, a magnificent villa was built in the area of today's castle park - the precious mosaic floors of the Roman Hall bear witness to the wealth of the owners. Who were the people who lived here? Why did they choose this particular spot to build a palace with 5,000 square metres of living space? We don't know exactly. Or do we? In a guided tour, Petra Kiefer as the landlady Silona takes guests on a journey back in time to the 3rd century AD. She vividly and excitingly tells the story of the villa and the Roman upper class at that time, explains the art treasures and what the villa once looked like. Silona gives a factual and imaginative account of the trade in garum and slaves, takes the audience to the gladiator games and to the water god Oceanus and reveals many a secret. It is still not clear why an exceptionally large palatial villa was built in the small Roman town of Cruciniacum, probably around 200 AD. The mosaic floors found here are considered to be outstanding internationally recognised works of art. Participant fee: €10, with guest card €8 incl. admission to the museum
