Event highlights in Rheinhessen

There's never a dull moment in Rheinhessen! The region is full of event highlights to discover and visit. Whether you fancy unique concerts, exciting theatre performances or fireworks in a breathtaking setting - there's something for everyone here!

If you want to get a little more physically active, you'll get your money's worth at one of Rheinhessen's active events. For example, enjoy the car-free route between Worms and Oppenheim together with over a thousand other cyclists on the Rhine Cycle or be inspired by the typical Rhine-Hessian vineyard house, the trullo, on the ‘Trullo in Flames’ wine wall tour.

You can find these and many other event highlights on this page - and throughout Rheinhessen!

The year at a glance

March

Carnival is an integral part of the Rhine-Hessian calendar of events. The street and pub carnival is celebrated in Mainz and the entire region with high spirits and many colorful costumes. The crowning highlight: the Rose Monday parade!

May

Just in time for the warmer temperatures in spring, people are drawn outside again. For example, the cycling event par excellence, the RheinRadeln, which leads 25 km from Osthofen to Oppenheim.

June

June in Rheinhessen is all about music. While the international jazz festival “Bingen Swingt” is celebrated in Bingen, national and international artists take to the stage from the end of June and provide a party atmosphere throughout the summer.

July

July in Rheinhessen is celebrated with a whole host of emotions. Whether at breathtaking firework displays such as “Rhine in Flames” or at the “Nibelungen Festival” in Worms. Great emotions are pre-programmed here. If that's not enough excitement for you, you can plunge into the world of winegrowers and wines at the “Maxime Open” right at the beginning of the month and get your money's worth while winery hopping.

August

As the summer slowly draws to a close, you can still relive that summer feeling at open-air events in Rhine-Hesse. While the “Jazz & Joy” festival in Worms offers top-class jazz as well as soul, swing, pop and rock, you can experience a diverse stage program ranging from cabaret to pop classics and classical music at the “DaCapo” in Alzey.

September

While it is slowly getting colder again in Rheinhessen and the first trees are losing their leaves, the Mainz wine market extends the summer feeling a little longer.
