The Martinskirche with its spacious garden is located in the historic center of Nierstein. The church on the main route of the RheinTerassenWeges has a Romanesque tower and well-preserved remains of a defensive wall.
As part of the project is planned to transform into an open church that invites hikers, visitors, residents and all interested parties to linger. The history of the place is to be highlighted and redesigned the square in front of the church tower and equipped with seating and resting opportunities. In the planned redesign of the garden areas elements of a Bible garden as well as a labyrinth as a meditation way come into question. In the foreground is a natural design with the historical inventory in connection with experience and recreation.
This mostly closed area is to be made public through the project, thus enabling access to the church in general and Christian or biblical themes in particular. In addition, the planned cultural events and concerts contribute to an attractiveness of the place. A meeting place of the generations in harmony with the church should arise thereby.
About the redesign and opening of the site is the
