6.6. Three days of jazz at its finest
6.6. Three days of jazz at its finest
For the 21st time, the city on the Rhine is transformed into the stronghold of jazz. Three days on which more than 30 bands on eight stages welcome the midsummer - with everything jazz has to offer!
In 2016, the Bingen Festival swing will be dedicated to new challenges: it will transcend musical and geographical boundaries as well as present the multifaceted developments in the national scene. The musician from Bingen swings 2016 is as multinational as ever.
You can look forward to the soul and funk star Ed Motta, the Danish formation Mames Babegenush, the Italian accordion virtuoso Luciano Biondini or Andreas Schaerer's new formation A Novel Of Anomaly.
When the Glenn Miller Orchestra, headed by Wil Salden, presents the new program "It's Glenn Miller Time", the location becomes a swing temple and brings back the lifestyle of the 30's / 40's. World hits like: The Mood, Pennsylvania 6-5000, String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade and many more will be heard.
The national scene will also be presented in Bingen, alongside Andreas Kümmert, Mo'Blow and Stephanie Lottermoser, as well as Three Fall and Daniel Stelter.
Closely associated with the festival and "regular guest" of each issue is Emil Mangelsdorff. As a modern mainstream musician, he is one of the most distinguished soloists and composers of German jazz in the best sense of the word. His finely chiselled lines, supported by a large, clear Alto sound, prove him to be a confident musician, who knows how to bring the entire tradition to a musically coherent synthesis full of warmth and elegance. The well-versed band joins the internationally acclaimed and Germany-based tenor saxophonist Tony Lakatos, who in turn captivates with his outstanding, full tone.
The Tourist Information Bingen offers a package deal with two nights, 3 days ribbon for admission to all concerts (for all 8 stages and for each of the over 30 bands) and riverboat shuffle to the Loreley and back (boat tour) for 219.00 € per person in a double room.
