LaGallerie

Opposite Mainz's famous St. Stephan's Church and surrounded by many bars and restaurants is La Gallerie. Here, chef Christoph Rubel entertains his guests and this year serves a saddle of fresh roe with almond crust, cranberry dumplings and cognac-pepper sauce. The dumplings are made from potatoes from the Koch potato farm in Mainz-Kastel. To accompany his dish, Rubel recommends a dry 2019 Malbec Unfiltered from the Peth-Wetz winery in Bermersheim. Mainz's Gaustraße, affectionately called Fressgass by locals, is home to a gastronomic Eldorado. Between numerous restaurants and bars lies the restaurant La Gallerie, where Christoph Rubel surprises his guests time and again with creative dishes. In addition to hearty dishes, excellent desserts are also served here, because the chef is not only a trained chef, but also a trained confectioner and has already worked in many starred restaurants in his career.
