Great Wine Capitals

Great Wine Capitals

The network

Mainz and Rheinhessen - the largest wine-growing region in Germany and the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate - have been members of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network (GWC) since June 2008 - a network of nine major wine-growing cities and their internationally renowned and renowned wine regions.

The aim is to stimulate travel, education and business contacts between the prestigious centers of Bordeaux, Cape Town, Florence, Mainz, Mendoza, Porto, Bilbao-Rioja, Christchurch and San Francisco-Napa Valley and thus the cooperation of cities and their regions beyond the borders to promote. Here, the exchange of information, knowledge and experience comes first.

Great Wine Capitals Mainz and Rheinhessen is the exclusive German representation of the network. Here marketing organizations for tourism and wine, cultural initiatives, winegrowers, scientists and hoteliers, restaurateurs and traders work together on one goal: to place Mainz, Rheinhessen and its wines even better in the global competition.
