The development of the number of guests in Rheinhessen has been steadily rising for years. The positive trend is unbroken again last year: the number of guests is 950,965, 4.7% higher than in the previous year, and exceeds the national average. The number of overnight stays increased by 2.4% to 1,538,274 (Source: Statistisches Landesamt, Statististische Berichte).
Particularly striking and pleasing is the high rate of increase in the VG Alzey-Land, especially in Flonheim. Last year's 7,935 guests represented an increase of 38.1%. They generated an overnight stay of 12,718, which was 36.8% higher than last year. An important impetus for this positive development is certainly the large attractive range of hosts, restaurants and events in Flonheim. The very good networking of all actors, who are committed and willing to come together to a common cause, also contributes to the success.
Burkhard Müller, Assistant to the district of Mainz-Bingen and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rheinhessen-Touristik GmbH, makes it clear "that the demand for new hiking trails and hiking packages has driven up the number of guests and bookings in the last two years. Here, the sometimes considerable investment in the tourist infrastructure pays off. They are the first to make quality marketing for Rheinhessen tourism possible with high-quality and competitive offers. "
