Winery Hemmes, wine shop & wine school in Bingen am Rhein

In a good, honest wine put positive forces. This idea has been inspiring the Hemmes family for generations in viticulture and cellar work. The goal is to make sustainable use of the natural potential of the best locations and thus make "a piece of home experience". The Vinothek is housed in the lovingly restored old village school building. For a long time, the old school building dating back to 1908 shaped the character of the Kempter town center. The "Best of Wine Tourism Global Award 2010" was awarded in the Sustainability in Wine Tourism category for the preservation of the old buildings in the town center and the future-oriented energy supply of the building with geothermal energy. Since 2012, the Vinothek has been awarded the Rheinhessen quality label.

The "wine school" was established in two former classrooms. Winzer Frank Hemmes, who opens the doors of this beautiful Art Nouveau building in a tailcoat, with a top hat and a cane, will tell you what it entails. He rings the old school bell and leads through the vinotheque into the school room, where lovingly preserved objects such as leather school bags and small writing boards recall the historic history of the building. However, Frank Hemmes, as a village schoolmaster, does not distribute grades, but in his subjects biology, geology, local history, he always creates exciting connections to wine. This slightly different wine tasting is learning with enjoyment and pleasure, there are no exams and grades! The small snack bread that is served with Riesling is just one of many wonderful details of this wine school, where lessons are not really "dry"!

Look forward to the 18er wines! The food comes this year from Manuel Kubitza and his "Neustadt-Food-Team" and from Meike and Barbara with their "b m-Team". There will also be two wine tours again, Fridays from 6pm and Saturdays from 4pm.
