The winemakers Jochen and Thilo Hein both have their home in the 'Zellertal', in the deep south of Rheinhessen. Their winery is family owned since 1837. Where Rheinhessen and the Palatinate meet, the vineyards in the valley extending from west to east are under the typical influence of the west wind. The winery is located on the plateau of the Laurenziberg and gives a spectacular view into three valleys. The vineyards are located in their favour with excellent climatic conditions. The winery and the restaurant are popular for more than 25 years.
Under the management of Heiko and Goscha Schäfer, the winery produces a wide range of wines that are known for their mild, aromatic and noble characteristics. The range includes both red and white wines, Rotling and Rosé, which are characterised by their high quality and excellent value for money. Special attention is paid to PIWI wines, which are made from fungus-resistant grape varieties. These wines are characterised by sustainability and robustness and are becoming increasingly important in viticulture.
The winery attaches great importance to the natural cultivation of the vineyards in order to maximise the quality of the grapes and protect the environment. The white wines are predominantly matured in stainless steel tanks to emphasise the freshness and fruitiness of the grape varieties. Particularly noteworthy is the Riesling sparkling wine produced for the first time in 2015, which impresses with its elegant fruit and precision craftsmanship.
