For almost 100 years the winery of the city of Alzey was one of the few german wineries under municipal management. In 2012 the city of Alzey decided to lease the winery to the winemaker families Metzler and Becker from Gau-Heppenheim. Their special concern is not only to make good wine that suits the city of Alzey, but also to fill the city winery with life.
