Dennis Wittberg und die Schellack-Solisten

The sensitive melodies, the sentimental and often cheeky lyrics with their smug ambiguity from the 1920s have not lost their appeal to this day and have been given a new lease of life by the Shellac Soloists. The ensemble from Mainz can look back on numerous nationwide guest performances, television and radio appearances. They have produced numerous recordings, including hits from the “New German Wave” of the early 1980s, interpreted in the style of the 1920s and sounding as fresh as new. Frontman Denis Wittberg sings nostalgically perfect with a clear head voice, conferring nonchalantly, undercooled charm and gallantly rolling the “R”. His shellac soloists accompany him skillfully with grand piano, acoustic bass, tuba, tenor banjo and guitar, percussion, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and a lovely violin.
