Bad Kreuznacher Fischerstechen

A typical town festival in Bad Kreuznach at the shore of the river Nahe is the fisherman’s fair in September on the charming Rose island with the tournament “Fischerstechen Bad Kreuznach”, whereby participants try with the help of lances to knock their opponents into the water while standing in small boats, similar to a knights’ tournament on horseback. For 30 years now locals and guests have celebrated this festival with the 3 W’s: Wiese (fairground on Rose island), Wasser (water) and Wein (wine) - sport, fun and good food all inclusive. The fair is a reminder of the long fishing tradition on the river Nahe.
