Michelle Willis recently caused a sensation with her outstanding album “Just one voice”, not only because rock and folk legends such as David Crosby (Crosby, Stills & Nash) and Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers) were involved, but above all because of her strong emotional songs, which are so rich in harmonies, profound lyrics and complex grooves. This is complemented by a warm, expressive voice. David Crosby describes Willis with the following words: “One of my favorite singers... simply amazing... fluent, powerful, graceful... such a good composer... a soulful, rich, deep musician and bandleader who swings like her life depends on it.” British-born Michelle Willis, who grew up in Canada, now lives in NYC and has an impressive resume. She has been a regular special guest on tour with the funk jazz band Snarky Puppy for years, has played with Iggy Pop and is a regular member of the Becca Stevens Band. Michelle studied jazz piano at Humber College in Toronto and then turned to folk and pop songwriting, drawing inspiration from musical icons such as Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Donny Hathaway, CSNY, Ray Charles, Jimmy Webb, Rufus Wainwright and the Beatles. All these influences are palpable and yet there is always a certain timeless independence and modernity in her songs. Now the exceptional musician is making a guest appearance at the KulturGUT in Bechtolsheim in Rhine-Hesse, which has now shed its insider tip status. Michelle's premiere concert in 2024 was so fantastic that people hardly wanted to let her leave the stage and we hired her again straight away.
