BioWeingut & Landhotel Gänz

The organic estate of the Gänz family in Hackenheim lies on the border between the cultivation areas of Rheinhessen and Nahe, which is why the company is also making Rieslings from the Nahe. The most important location is the Hackenheimer Kirchberg, where a large part of the vineyards of the company can be found. Since 1997, the winery is certified organic and works according to the guidelines of Bioland. With the new construction of the farm, the winery was expanded in 2001 by a bio hotel. Peter Gänz is responsible for the wine production of the various grape varieties, especially: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Sylvaner and Gewürztraminer. The red wines they grow are Pinot Noir, Dornfelder and Regent.

The Gänz family will gladly welcome you in German or in English.

Hackenheimer Kirchberg

Hackenheimer Kirchberg

Up to the chapel

A striking silhouette and a chapel on top: a Catholic church once stood on the Kirchberg. In memory of this, the people of Hackenheim have erected a chapel there, the Michaelskapelle. Saint Michael is the local church patron saint. Once a year, the local community celebrates its wine festival up there. Yes, people are allowed to dance! A wide variety of vines grow on clay marl. However, the name is apparently not based on the former Catholic church, but on the southern location to the Hackenheim church in the village.
