Winery Hoos
Tradition and experience form the foundation on which we count in the winery. As important as a solid foundation is the individual handling of the conditions that are given to us by nature in the vineyard and cellar. As operating successor, Alexander Hoos has joined the traditional winery Frey since September 2009 and has taken over the winery in 2012. We have joined forces to combine tradition and progress. "Tradition is preserved progress, progress is a continuing tradition." (Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker: Tradition and Progress) Eight hectares of vineyards in Sulzheim are the foundation of our business. Different vineyard sites are part of our winery. Mainly in the district of Sulzheim we have Cyrenmergel as soil, as well as loess, limestone and heavy clay soils. The work in the vineyards has a very special significance for us. Starting with the quality-oriented pruning, a careful leaf work and an individual yield reduction are the conditions for a good quality. The grapes of our top wines are picked by hand and selected, partly in several harvest rounds. In the cellar, our principle is less is more.
