Vinotheque at the Ingelheimer Winzerkeller

Wine shopping in the Ingelheim wine shop

Where the wine of the Nieder-Ingelheim winegrowers' co-operative used to be pressed, matured and stored is now a place of wine enjoyment. Almost 30 Ingelheim winegrowers and a distillery present their top wines and fine spirits here. Whether red or white, dry or off-dry - lovers of fine wines will find the perfect opportunity to get to know Ingelheim wines in the modern ambience of the vinotheque.

The best wines from almost 30 Ingelheim winegrowers and a distillery are displayed in modern wire racks that form a harmonious contrast to the old sandstone walls. Tasting is expressly encouraged, and the 3- or 6-glass wine tasting on offer invites you to do just that. In addition to excellent wines, wine-related products such as the Ingelheim red wine sock or freshly roasted coffee in a red wine barrel are also on the shelves.

The varied range of wines is also presented in the online shop of the Vinothek Ingelheim. If you would like to be informed about news or promotions of the Vinothek, we recommend subscribing to the newsletter.

The vinotheque in the Winzerkeller is a "Rheinhessen EXCELLENT vinotheque". In September 2021, the Vinothek im Winzerkeller was named one of the 30 most beautiful vinotheques in Germany by the German Wine Institute. The Vinothek is also featured in the new Merian catalogue X1/2021 "Weingenuss Deutschland". See for yourself and click here

Ingelheimer Horn

Ingelheimer Horn

Where mountains stand out and Pinots feel at home

The vineyard was first mentioned in a document in 1570 with the name "am Horn". The term "Horn" is a common designation for protruding mountains. Like the horns of a billy goat or roebuck. Following the tradition of the red wine town, the single vineyard Ingelheimer Horn is home to complex and elegant Pinot Noirs and other Pinot varieties. At the foot of the Mainzer Berg, above Ober-Ingelheim. Loess, stony and sandy loam soil as well as numerous limestones are characteristic for the vineyard, which extends up to 250 metres above sea level.

Groß-Winternheimer Bockstein

Groß-Winternheimer Bockstein

Army road, dry stone wall and Rieslings

Just like Elsheim, Groß-Winternheim also has a single vineyard called Bockstein. This does not come as a surprise, as the two villages are only five kilometres apart, both by the Selz River and on the former army road. In the past, loads were carried on the back, jacked up (german: “aufgebockt”). Hence the name. Excellent Rieslings are produced here on loess, sand and clay marl. Lizards bask in the sun along the dry stone walls. The hiking trail Westerberg Hiwweltour leads directly along Groß-Winternheim. Along the river Selz, there are wonderful places for cycling.

Ingelheimer Sonnenhang

Ingelheimer Sonnenhang

Sun, Selz and super wines

Not to be confused with the 1-hectare single vineyard "Ingelheimer Sonnenberg" in the middle of the city. The Sonnenhang is 88 hectares in size and is located in the extension of Ingelheim-Süd and on the Selz River. Sonnenhang and Sonnenberg are quasi-synonyms. This name comes from the generally favorable position towards the sun. Here, the Mainzer Berg slopes west-southwest toward the Selz Valley and allows optimal sun exposure. On limestone, loess and loam grow a variety of vines of rather strong style: Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir or Chardonnay. In the soil there are fossilized corals and snails.
